The Rotary Club of Ely is proud to support Ely Baby Bank, a community project that provides practical help and support to families with babies and young children across Ely and the surrounding region.
The organisation is run by a dedicated team of volunteers who collect, sort and distribute donated items for children up to 18 months old. Families can access a wide range of essential goods, including clothing, cots, highchairs, bedding, toys, books and other everyday items that can make a significant difference during the early years of parenthood.
One of the qualities that makes Ely Baby Bank so valuable is its welcoming approach. No referral is required, and anyone in need of support can visit. Alongside practical assistance, the project offers a friendly community space where visitors can enjoy a warm welcome, conversation and companionship.
The charity also champions sustainability by giving high-quality donated items a second life. Through careful sorting and recycling, volunteers help reduce waste while ensuring families receive safe and useful items.
Demand for the service has grown dramatically in recent years. What began as a project helping around 300 visitors annually has expanded to support thousands of people each year, with families travelling from across the wider region to access its services. This growth highlights both the importance of the project and the continuing need for community-based support.
By supporting Ely Baby Bank, the Rotary Club of Ely is helping strengthen an organisation that provides dignity, practical assistance and a sense of community to families during an important stage of life.
